Job Title: Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) III
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Clearance Requirement: Secret Clearance
3 Reasons Consulting is seeking Letters of Intent (LOIs) from qualified candidates interested in a potential Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) III opportunity. This anticipated position will support Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity initiatives, focusing on implementing and maintaining secure systems and configurations, refining security requirements, and ensuring compliance throughout the Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle.
This is a potential upcoming opportunity, and we are currently gathering interest from experienced professionals who would like to be considered once the position is officially available. (Potential start date of Spring, 2026)
Responsibilities
Capture and refine information security operational and system requirements.
Ensure security requirements are properly addressed through secure system design, development, and configuration.
Implement security controls, configuration changes, and software/hardware updates or patches.
Perform vulnerability scanning and maintain secure configurations across systems.
Support system security documentation, continuous monitoring, and compliance validation.
Collaborate with cross-functional technical and security teams to ensure system integrity and compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent STEM discipline from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience capturing and refining information security operational and security requirements and ensuring those requirements are properly addressed through purposeful development, configuration, and implementation of security controls, configuration changes, software/hardware updates or patches, vulnerability scanning, and secure configurations.
Certifications (Baseline Requirement):
Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
CASP+ CE
CCNP Security
CISA
CISSP (or Associate)
GCED
GCIH
CCSP
