Job Description

As a Security Officer - Access Control Specialist in Kankakee, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more.

As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal in a chemical and petrochemical environment, you will monitor and patrol designated areas to help to deter unauthorized access and promote a secure atmosphere. Your role will involve conducting routine patrols, maintaining a visible presence to support security-related protocols, and providing outstanding customer service to all personnel and visitors. What You'll Do:

• Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
• Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
• Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
• Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
• Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and control access to the location, verifying identification and credentials of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
• Follow location-specific procedures and Allied Universal protocols to help to deter unauthorized entry and/or suspicious activities.
• Provide customer service to clients, employees, and visitors by addressing inquiries and offering assistance as needed.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, taking appropriate action in accordance with training and site policies.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter security-related risks and observe any irregularities.
• Observe and report any unusual activities or conditions, such as potential hazards or security-related breaches, to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain detailed logs and prepare reports on all activities, incidents, and observations during the shift.
• Support emergency response efforts at the location as directed, including following established protocols for incidents such as chemical spills or evacuations.
• Collaborate with other Allied Universal personnel and location staff to help to deter and address security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a valid Guard Card and/or license is preferred.
• Have experience in access control and/or badge systems is preferred.
• Have prior customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
