Duties

As a TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS ANALYST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Performs program, analytical, technical and functional research and studies that are incorporated into Personal Property Systems development and implementation that identify areas for improvement, or cover innovative approaches, technologies, and methods for evaluating the effectiveness of proposed transportation programs and services.
  • Analyzes data requirements to determine the automation of transportation administrative operations for the system, reviews and evaluates certified deliverables to ensure fulfillment of defined objectives for content, design, development and documentation.
  • Analyzes, interprets transportation policy, procedures, and resolves complex functional requirements and the implementation of new developments and technology to the Personal Property Systems program.
  • Analyzes regulatory proposals for potential impact on the program, recommends courses of action for modifications and implementing policy/guidance.
  • Serves as the expert technical consultant and advisor for the team for all assigned tasks; performs in-depth studies and research to analyze and resolve critical problems.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Uses analysis techniques (systems analysis and design modeling) for functional designs and interface requirements in the implementation of a joint standard system.
  • Ability to plan work and tasks incorporating the techniques of project planning and work breakdown structures.
  • Technical expert for a wide range of transportation regulations and policies applicable to the movement and storage of the Personal Property program when dealing with extremely broad and complex transportation problems that result in software development.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
