Deputy Project Leader

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Deputy Project Leader (Telecommunications) to join a Federal Program located in Manassas, VA. The Deputy Project Leader (Telecommunications) will oversee complex telecommunications projects, ensuring strategic execution, timely delivery, and profitable outcomes. This role provides leadership and mentorship to junior project leaders, field superintendents, and trades personnel.

Responsibilities of the Deputy Project Leader include:

· Lead design and deployment of integrated telecommunications and infrastructure systems.

· Establish and enforce project procedures to meet schedule and budget requirements.

· Manage subcontractors and coordinate installation scope.

· Develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules using MS Project.

· Conduct project kick-off meetings and monthly reviews.

· Forecast cash flow and manpower needs for multiple projects.

· Prepare estimates, submittals, and change orders for design/build projects.

· Oversee acquisition of materials and monitor equipment requirements.

· Ensure timely completion of projects, including punch-list and as-built documentation.

· Maintain profitability and identify cost-saving measures and best practices.

Qualifications for the Deputy Project Leader include:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or Construction Management; Master's preferred.

· 7+ years of experience in telecommunications and security systems construction.

· Proven ability to lead projects with budgets from $500K-$10M+.

· Expertise in fiber optics, structured cabling, CCTV, OSP/ISP copper, and DAS.

· Proficiency in CPM scheduling and tools such as MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Accubid, Primavera P6.

· Experience in federal aviation, government airports, higher education, or transit systems projects.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance

Compensation for the Deputy Project Leader includes:

· Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
