Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Engineer Systems Architect - Level 4 (25-534) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is vital in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
C2BMC is an innovative and exciting program within the Missile Defense and Space mission areas. It has a long history of delivering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency and continues to be contracted to develop new, innovative solutions for these missions. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work across C2BMC in both Missile Defense and Space. They will be part of an integrated architecture and systems engineering team on a multi-company program, responsible for defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture needed to illustrate the vision and capabilities of an evolving C2BMC effort. The candidate will contribute to the design of missile defense command, control, and battle management systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components, with DoD interoperability in mind.

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Participate in analyzing high-level needs using a structured and logical approach
- Responsible for developing system architecture solutions and concepts for various new and emerging capabilities of the C2BMC system, collaborating with other architects, including the lead systems architect, software architects, network architect, cyber architect, and others
- Communicates and collaborates on system architecture solutions with teams such as software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teams
- Physical architecture and logical architecture throughout the system
- Communicate with project leads, product owners, and MDA customers
- The candidate will present architecture concepts to diverse audiences and serve as the main point of contact for the System Architecture within the Capability for development, testing, and deployment efforts
- The candidate will present internal and external design reviews
- The candidate may help document or review architecture using an MBSE tool like CAMEO
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies and design methodologies in the area of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS information technology products

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a STEM related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to be cleared at SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Systems Engineering
- Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
- Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
- Must have Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test Experience as a desired skill on a DoD Program
- Must possess the desire to become a Systems Architect on a complex Department of Defense Command and Control program
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical concepts to a diverse group of engineers
- Must have at least two of the following skillsets:
- C2BMC or similar complex DoD Command and Control (C2) system experience of over 2 years
- Experience in developing new system architecture concepts and solutions
- Experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software, or Network work as part of an integrated team collaborating with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions for a DoD program
- Experience as a Technical Lead, Systems Engineering SME, or a Systems Engineering technical leader in the Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 domain
- Additionally, we are seeking the following skills and experience:
- Experience being part of a team that designed systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components with DoD interoperability in mind
- Experience working within an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
- Experience in identifying and defining system capabilities, communicating them to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users, and creating architecture artifacts to document and ensure the delivery of these capabilities
- Experience in developing system engineering and architecture artifacts (e.g., Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)
- Experience in creating briefings, reviewing architecture designs and artifacts, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews
- Experience as a technical leader in a DoD Systems Engineering or Development project
- Familiarity with private cloud solutions and IT technologies such as VMware/Nutanix, Red Hat, and network solutions
- Familiar with DoD Cyber requirements, RMF, and related solutions
- Familiarity with software development and Java-based software
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and/or Digital Engineering Transformation (DET) methodologies and solutions
- Familiarity with Agile development
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and the Cameo tools
- Familiarity with requirements management tools, such as DOORS
