As a Security Officer - Industrial Access Control in Newport News, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more.
As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a dynamic manufacturing and industrial location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas to help maintain a secure environment. Your presence and professionalism will help to deter security-related incidents while providing outstanding customer service to everyone onsite. You will be responsible for conducting routine patrols, remaining visible, and communicating clearly with team members and visitors. What You'll Do:
- Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
- Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
- Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
- Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
- Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise
Responsibilities:
- Control access to the location by verifying credentials of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
- Follow site-specific procedures and Allied Universal protocols to help maintain a secure environment for personnel and visitors.
- Monitor security-related systems such as surveillance cameras and alarms to help detect unusual activity.
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled patrols around the facility and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access or suspicious behavior.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including following established emergency response procedures.
- Document and report security-related incidents, observations, and any unusual occurrences according to company and client guidelines.
- Provide customer service by assisting personnel, contractors, and/or visitors with authorized access and responding to inquiries in a professional manner.
- Support the implementation of security-related policies and procedures specific to an industrial and manufacturing environment.

Minimum Requirements:
- A valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential issued by the Transportation Security Administration is required.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
