Senior Payroll Specialist

Precise Systems is seeking a dedicated Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. This full-time, regular position is ideal for a professional looking to establish a career in payroll management within a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll, providing timely and accurate financial information, and participating in daily data entry payroll processing.

This role will require you to work closely with the HR department to ensure smooth payroll transactions and to address any discrepancies or queries related to payroll. Your attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of the payroll system.

Hybrid/Remote Delivery: 2 days per week in our Reston office minimum.

Duties:

• Prepare and process semi-monthly and/or bi-weekly payroll, including salaries, allowances, garnishments, benefits deductions, and taxes.
• Process payroll updates for new hires, terminations, salary changes, and adjustments.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee time and attendance data.
• Understand and enter the wage garnishment into HSIS
• Reconcile payroll prior to final transmittal
• Ensure all payroll data, including hours worked, bonuses, and deductions, is accurately calculating on employees' pay.
• Generates payroll reports, including any fiscal and reporting requirements from funding sources and benefit administration
• Assist with the timesheet correction process
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any payroll issues in a timely manner
• Works proactively to collaborate with HR team
• Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
• Superior attention to detail
• Process PTO calculations and/or any adjustments
• Assists with Workers Comp calculations

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree in a business or finance discipline preferred

Required Experience

• 8+ or more years of payroll processing in a government contracting environment
• Strong experience with ADP and Deltek - CostPoint
• Experience with multiple payroll processing cycles
• Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS system, as well as strong skills in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to analyze payroll date, identity discrepancies and solve problems
• Exceptional attention to detail, time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
