Responsibilities

OBXtek is currently staffing for a Maintenance and Repair Technician I. The M&R Technician specializes in maintenance, repair, lifecycle replacement, full system upgrades, and manufacture of peripherals associated with all Diplomatic Security (DS) approved technical security equpment deployed across training sites.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as member of Maintenance & Repair group;
  • Installs and maintains technical security counterterrorism and counterintelligence training systems such as: security video surveillance, intrusion detection, perimeter protection, explosive detection, vehicle arrest, physical security, security management system enterprise network, and chemical dispersion;
  • Maintains equipment and systems in accordance with manufacturer literature and Diplomatic Security (DS) or organization standards and deployment document packages;
  • Implements preventative maintenance schedule for each technical security system installed under the office's Maintenance and Repair (M&R) purview;
  • Documents work activities via the Department's Security Technology's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Ensures CMMS work orders, assets accountability, and purchasing procedures follow established SOPs;
  • Performs bench repair to the component level on approved training equipment by inspecting, diagnosing, correcting, documenting, and reporting equipment flaws and failures;
  • Assists with annual radiation compliance surveys for all ionizing radiation equipment;
  • Implements approved lifecycle schedule for assets based on routine maintenance, wear and tear caused by student use, equipment age, technology trends, and existing equipment approvals;
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of DS installation policies, standards, applicable codes, and regulations;
  • Processes and completes approved supply and service requests related to training equipment and projects;
  • Maintains workshops, tools, parts and supplies;
  • Develops the required knowledge of the sub-systems and components of responsible approved systems, as well as the electrical and mechanical systems ancillary to or supporting the primary equipment;
  • Employee will require some supervision and has a growing opportunity to exercise independent judgment and initiative in the line of work.


Qualifications

Professional Qualifications/Skills:

  • Associate's degree preferred or equivalent technical training. Years of experience may be substituted for formal education;
  • Two (2) or more years' experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, and/or electro-mechanical systems and equipment;

Knowledge of electronics technology, technical security systems, and safety standards and practices;

Knowledge of logistical processes, inventory management and established inventory management and supply systems (e.g. Computerized Maintenance Management System

(CMMS), Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) preferred);

Knowledge of Federal procurement regulations, policies and procedures; Knowledge of military, law enforcement, and/or Government security operations, programs, plans and relationships;
  • Skill in providing good customer service;
  • Skill in organizing, managing, and prioritizing multiple tasks;
  • Skill in oral and written communication to prepare documents and guidelines, provide technical advice and assistance, and coordinate work with others;
  • Ability to research and analyze information quickly;
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements (walking, standing, bending and lifting of medium to heavy objects).

Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or be able to obtain/maintain a SECRET security clearance.
