Systems Engineer (ISSO)
Country Intelligence Group is seeking a full-time Information Assurance & Systems Engineer to support our client in securing and maintaining complex DoD systems. The candidate will manage daily cybersecurity operations, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with RMF and NISCAP requirements. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessments, and C&A documentation, as well as providing configuration management for security software, hardware, and firmware. The engineer will also support RF and SATCOM signal processing systems, administer Linux and Windows environments, and apply networking expertise to maintain and optimize data collection and transmission systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in DoDAF/SOA architectures, requirements development, risk management, and system integration from design through deployment. This position ensures the secure, reliable, and compliant operation of mission-critical systems.
Tasks Performed:
• Support the organization’s information assurance program by enforcing security policies and standards.
• Prepare and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, and C&A documentation to ensure compliance with DoD RMF and NISCAP processes.
• Provide configuration management for security software, hardware, and firmware, assessing the security impact of system changes.
• Administer Linux and Windows systems, troubleshoot issues, and configure RF system networks.
• Support RF and SATCOM signal processing systems, ensuring effective data flow and operational performance.
• Apply networking expertise to maintain and optimize tactical and fixed SATCOM data transmission systems.
• Develop and manage system requirements in accordance with DoDAF and SOA architectures.
• Define verification methods and evaluation criteria for systems and subsystems throughout the development lifecycle.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential system vulnerabilities.
• Coordinate system integration activities across teams to ensure interface integrity and baseline consistency.
• Oversee system development, deployment, and maintenance to support secure and reliable operations.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
• Minimum High School Diploma/GED with at least 19 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management with at least 14 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity principles, policies, and best practices.
• Experience conducting vulnerability assessments and managing daily security operations.
• Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NISCAP compliance processes.
• Proficiency in preparing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, and C&A documentation.
• Skilled in configuration and change management for security software, hardware, and firmware systems.
• Hands-on experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting and software configuration.
• Familiarity with RF and SATCOM signal processing systems, data flow, and system dependencies.
• Strong networking expertise, particularly in supporting tactical and fixed SATCOM RF-based systems.
• Ability to develop and manage system requirements aligned with DoDAF and SOA architectural frameworks.
• Experience defining verification methods, conducting risk assessments, and implementing verification plans throughout system development.
• Proven ability to coordinate system integration efforts across multidisciplinary teams, maintaining interface and baseline integrity.
• Knowledge of the system lifecycle, from design and development through deployment, maintenance, and sustainment.
• Experience with:
o Linux / Unix command-line
o Windows
