Duties
Indefinite Appointment not to exceed two (2) years. The purpose of the indefinite appointment is to backfill an Airman on active duty. The indefinite appointment will be terminated within 30 days of return of the incumbent to the position.
This is an indefinite position that may convert to permanent without further competition.
JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to provide munitions support to the state and designated agencies in support of their taskings.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside; in inclement weather; on icy, wet, and slippery ramps and work stands; and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, engine noise, heat blast, intake suction; explosive munitions; chemical munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents. Risk of cuts, bruises, scrapes, burns, respiratory irritation, explosions, and high voltage electrical shock. Wear of safety-toed boots, hearing, and eye protection is required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: There is frequent standing, bending, and working in tiring positions, although there is occasional sitting down at test consoles or workbenches. It is required to lift, push or pull a variety of items weighing up to 100 pounds or heavier weights with assistance.

For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
STATEMENT OF DIFFERENCE: Individual selected at a lower level will be issued a Statement of Difference. Predicated upon qualifications, individual could be hired at the WG-10 grade. An individual selected for this position at the lower grade will progressively be advanced to WG-10 upon achievement of required qualifications without further competition.

- Production Section is comprised of Precision Guided Munitions (PGM), Conventional Maintenance, Line-Delivery and Munitions Support Equipment Elements.
- Materiel Section is comprised of Operations, Inspections and Stockpile Management Elements.
- The Systems Section is comprised of Munitions Control, Combat Plans, Mobility & Training and Plans & Scheduling Elements.
- Maintains hazardous waste and material according to applicable directives.
- Assembles/Disassembles, adjust configuration, performs maintenance/test & repair, handles and transports ammunition, rockets, unguided and guided weapons and countermeasures, demolition material, and other types of conventional ordnance such as 40MM, Cluster Bomb Units (CBU), Guided Bomb Units (GBU), general purpose bombs, aircraft canon ammunition, missile systems, decoys, countermeasures to include LUU series flares and dispensers for loading on aircraft based on Unit Committed Munitions List (UCML) and Wings training requirements.

- Experience or training servicing and adjusting ordnance equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, assembling, and disassembling parts.
- Experience which has demonstrated the ability to identify and locate troubles by sight.
- Experience in the use of common hand tools.
- Experience showing the ability to follow written instruction.
- Experience or training in dismantling, cleaning and reassembling various ordnance equipment such as; target detecting, arming, control, steering, power and propulsion units and devices.
- Experience which required the ability to diagnose malfunctions.
- Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring instruments.
- Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and meggers.
- Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.
- Experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing a variety of major subassemblies.
- Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components.
- Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment.
- Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of missile and ordnance systems.
- Ability to identify ordnance by filler, color code, markings, or physical description.
- Knowledge of a wide range of electronics principles, practices, and inter-related processes for the purpose of independently troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electronic, mechanical, or electromechanical faults, issues, etc.
- Skill in interpreting complex drawings, specifications schematics and performs intricate shop mathematics for complete systems.
- Skills in the use of precision measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, potentiometers, frequency signal generators, etc. as well as in troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating and maintaining missiles and missile test equipment.
