As a Security Officer - Education Welcome Desk in Detroit, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more.
As a Front Desk Security Professional with Allied Universal at an educational location, you will be the first point of contact for all visitors, students, and staff, providing outstanding customer service while supporting a secure environment. Your responsibilities will include monitoring entry points, assisting with visitor management, and responding promptly to security-related incidents or inquiries. What You'll Do:
- Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
- Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
- Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
- Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
- Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies at the front desk area.
- Monitor access to the premises by verifying credentials, managing visitor logs, and issuing badges as appropriate.
- Assist with the communication of site-specific information and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Respond to incidents and/or critical situations at the location in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
- Support emergency response activities by coordinating with local authorities and Allied Universal management as directed.
- Help to deter unauthorized access and prohibited activities by maintaining a visible presence at the front desk.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of incidents, observations, and activities as required by site procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Allied Universal management in alignment with the needs of the location.

- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- A desire to gain broad experience and grow within the company
- Interest in transitioning into full-time roles when available
Minimum Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
