Overview

The Database Administrator, Senior, will support the database operations for our client to strengthen and expand the client's production environment.

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server Database Engine, Reporting Services (SSRS), and Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Develop and manage automated backup strategies, maintenance tasks, and monitoring jobs to ensure consistent performance.
  • Configure Database Mail and implement alert systems to provide proactive issue notification.
  • Deploy and support high availability solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, Windows Failover Clustering, and Database Mirroring.
  • Contribute to database design activities such as modeling, E-R diagrams, and deployment planning.
  • Implement data protection methods, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and SSL for data in transit.
  • Write and review SQL queries, procedures, and scripts for performance and efficiency.
  • Provide on-call support for production systems when required.
  • Support reporting and analytics efforts using SSRS, SSIS, and Power BI.
  • Apply STIGs, perform vulnerability assessments, patch servers and databases, and maintain security compliance documentation.
  • Conduct operating system patching, database patching, and auditing as part of regular maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance problems, using monitoring tools and tuning techniques on large SQL Server platforms.
  • Work closely with applications, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver stable and reliable services.
  • Assist with cloud-based projects; familiarity with Azure or AWS environments is an advantage.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server 2019 administration and practical experience with upgrades to SQL Server 2022.
  • Proven background in high availability and disaster recovery for enterprise systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server patching, auditing, and security controls.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Top Secret Clearance is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Working Conditions
  • Professional office environment.
  • Ability to work on-site at client's facility in the National Capitol Region.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range

USD $125,000.00 - USD $139,800.00 /Yr.
