The DevOps Developer, Senior supports the design, development, and sustainment of automated solutions that enhance system and product delivery within complex enterprise environments. This role plays a key part in implementing and optimizing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, automating testing, and supporting configuration management (CM) activities that align with security and compliance standards such as NIST SP 800-53 and NIST SP 800-128. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in automation, systems engineering, and cloud technologies to advance the Department of Veterans Affairs' modernization and operational goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, implement, maintain, and test automation frameworks and pipelines for system and product development.

• Support CM, system and product development, and testing processes through automation and integration.

• Apply expertise in CI/CD automation to optimize build, deployment, and testing efficiency.

• Troubleshoot technical and integration issues across multiple system environments.

• Manage and maintain repositories, databases, and DevOps tools such as SQL, MS SQL, Oracle, Azure DevOps, and CMDB systems.

• Utilize scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, YAML, Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP, Groovy, Bash) to automate development and operational tasks.

• Implement and maintain automation and testing tools including Jira, Azure DevOps, Selenium, Xray, Git, GitHub, Jenkins, OpenShift/Kubernetes, ServiceNow, Rancher, Docker, SonarQube, Terraform, Vagrant, Maven, Gradle, and ANT.

• Employ cloud technologies such as AWS and Microsoft Azure to support scalable and secure deployments.

• Use Power BI to automate CM reporting, visualization, and performance tracking.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify priorities, develop automation solutions, and improve development and sustainment processes.

• Translate complex technical requirements into accessible documentation, presentations, and recommendations for technical and business stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting VA OIT or similar IT contracts involving configuration management and automation.

• Proven expertise in CI/CD automation within system and product development lifecycles.

• Strong understanding of NIST SP 800-53 and NIST SP 800-128 and how they inform secure development and sustainment activities.

• Experience with system and product development, testing, and configuration management processes.

• Proficiency in repositories, databases, and DevOps pipelines to ensure reliable build and deployment operations.

• Skilled in cloud infrastructure, automation scripting, and DevSecOps methodologies.

• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical and integration issues.

• Excellent teamwork, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to explain technical topics clearly.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

• Experience leveraging Power BI for CM automation and reporting.

• Familiarity with VistA MUMPS and VA system environments.

• Strong analytical ability to evaluate development workflows and recommend process improvements.

• Capability to work independently or collaboratively to design and deliver scalable automation solutions.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

WORK LOCATION:

• Remote
