Work You'll Do
The Exercise Budget Analyst provides financial management expertise and strategic budgetary guidance to support the planning and execution of operations, activities, and investments associated with exercise and training programs. This role works closely with program leaders and stakeholders to ensure sound stewardship of operations and joint funding, manage critical financial reporting, and enable alignment of resources throughout the exercise lifecycle.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $102,750 to $171,250.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.

Work You'll Do
The Exercise Budget Analyst provides financial management expertise and strategic budgetary guidance to support the planning and execution of operations, activities, and investments associated with exercise and training programs. This role works closely with program leaders and stakeholders to ensure sound stewardship of operations and joint funding, manage critical financial reporting, and enable alignment of resources throughout the exercise lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource to leadership for financial decision-making and exercise-related funding matters, offering budget expertise to support operational initiatives and investments.
- Analyze requirements and support allocation strategies for Operations & Maintenance and Joint Staff appropriations, including specialized programs such as incremental funding, transportation, and global exercises.
- Prepare, review, and submit periodic and annual financial documentation and reporting submissions required by oversight bodies, tracking programmatic progress and fiscal compliance.
- Compile monthly summaries of joint exercise funding activity-including anticipated, committed, and actual expenditures-for distribution to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate to identify and document shortfalls or emerging needs, assembling requests to address gaps in exercise funding.
- Coordinate the development of phased financial plans to synchronize the flow of funds with program milestones and ensure subordinate units' needs are addressed.
- Work closely with planners and finance teams to verify exercise costs and inform updates to forecasts, ensuring spending aligns with approved budgets.
- Maintain ongoing documentation of budget execution and planning cycles, providing timely recommendations for financial adjustments to leadership.
- Facilitate the paperwork and workflow necessary for transferring funds between organizations, utilizing established interdepartmental processes and requests.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of professional experience in budget formulation, financial analysis, or program management within large, matrixed organizations or government programs
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Active Secret Clearance
- Ability to travel 10-15%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
