As a Kubernetes Engineer, you’ll design, automate, and maintain secure, cloud-native systems that power global military communications and operational coordination.
This role is ideal for engineers who want to combine technical mastery with national impact — ensuring continuous mission uptime, resilience, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and maintain high-availability Kubernetes environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Automate provisioning and deployment with Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps methodologies.
- Implement secure and compliant architectures aligned with the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design.
- Ensure 24x7x365 uptime and operational stability for Mattermost communication systems.
- Drive R&D and performance testing to improve scalability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across DevSecOps, Security, and Cloud Architecture disciplines.
- Create detailed documentation and runbooks to support compliance and continuity.
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced expertise with Kubernetes, Istio, Helm, and GitOps workflows
- Experience with custom controllers, CRDs, and operators
- Strong background in Linux systems, networking, and containerization (Docker)
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms
- Hands-on with Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD tools (GitLab preferred)
- Development background in Go, React, or SQL (Postgres/MySQL) a plus
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) preferred
Mission Operations Schedule
This position supports around-the-clock global operations.
You’ll be part of a trusted rotation ensuring 24x7x365 system uptime.
Shift Options:
- Weekdays: 5:00 PM – 12:30 AM ET or 12:30 AM – 8:00 AM ET
- Weekends: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM ET, 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM ET, or 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM ET
(Rotations are planned in advance for predictability and work-life balance.)
