Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator, SME (Enterprise Systems) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals.

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of enterprise systems within a collaborative team environment. Your primary responsibilities include the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure.

You will provide expert support to clients by diagnosing and resolving moderate to complex IT and system-related issues. The position also involves performing computer operations functions such as planning, integration, and verification of IT systems; recommending optimal system configurations; and offering solutions and technical guidance to development teams. Additionally, you will develop and maintain system administrator documentation and service plans, collaborate closely with the information security team to support NEC-Fort Hood, and provide remediation and troubleshooting for system-related change requests.

Key Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator, SME will:

* Maintain and administer all aspects of Microsoft SCCM and SCOM Enterprise Management Systems, including infrastructure, administrator consoles, inventory, software distribution, monitoring, and alerting
* Design, test, and implement upgrades and enhancements to SCCM and SCOM environments
* Install and configure new or rebuilt servers, hardware, peripherals, services, storage, and directories in accordance with operational and project standards
* Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and operational procedures to ensure system consistency and compliance
* Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes
* Review system and application logs, verify completion of scheduled jobs (e.g., backups), and perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions
* Conduct backup and recovery operations, ensuring proper file system protection and media rotation
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control requests.
* Provide Tier V technical support, troubleshooting complex system and network issues, and coordinating resolutions with affected stakeholders
* Apply OS patches, updates, and configuration changes on a regular basis, maintaining compliance with organizational and DoD standards
* Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and hardware/resource optimization as needed
* Research and recommend innovative or automated solutions for system administration tasks to improve efficiency and scalability
* Maintain data center environmental systems and monitoring tools to ensure uptime and reliability
* Support and configure systems that host GIS or Asset Management applications

Skills and Experience

The Systems Administrator, SME must have:

* Active Secret clearance
* 7+ years of hands-on experience in systems administration for enterprise environments
* Expertise with Microsoft SCCM and SCOM management and operations
* Strong understanding of Windows and UNIX-based operating systems, including file systems, inter-process communication, and device management
* Solid grasp of networking and distributed computing concepts, including routing principles, client/server design, and network-wide file system layouts
* Experience in scripting and automation using languages such as Tk, Perl, VBScript, or shell scripting
* Ability to perform basic debugging and modification of C programs
* Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and system security processes
* Working knowledge of DoD Information Assurance standards and processes (DIACAP, RMF preferred)
* Proven experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and hardware optimization
* Strong attention to detail, organization, and punctuality

Education and Certifications

The Systems Administrator, SME must meet the following:

Required

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology (IT), or related discipline
* Possess/maintain an IT I level certification IAW AR 25-2 and an IAT II certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M
* Server + or MS certification
* Experience building/maintaining systems to include architecture and implementing storage and data management solutions

Preferred

* Experience with CMMI Level 3 or higher environments preferred

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
