The KC-135 Chief Engineer (CE) has responsibility for overall safety, technical integrity, and engineering execution. Job responsibilities include overall design authority for the KC-135 Program and signature authority for all engineering accomplished on the program. The KC-135 CE works closely with the Boeing Engineering support teams and the KC-135 Program group to ensure all engineering meets the technical and contractual requirements of the KC-135. KC-135 CE also works very closely with the Government System Program Office (SPO) KC-135 CE to ensure continued safe, sustainable, affordable fleet of KC-135 aircraft. This position will report directly to the BGS Director of Transport & Tankers Engineering.
This individual is also responsible for program technical integration across Boeing business units.
This position will operate per PRO-6924, which outlines the Chief Program Engineer role and charter as the independent technical leader ensuring technical excellence, safety, and proper coordination between the teams.

Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall system safety and leads the KC-135 safety review boards and escalates safety items as needed to the BGS safety review boards.
- Leads KC-135 Engineering Review Board to review technical changes and impacts to the program. The KC-135 CE also is one of the leaders of the Program Change Board to assess and approve change impacts to the program.
- Responsible for program technical integration across various engineering teams including MRO engineering and across the business units.
- Manage program technical performance metrics, driving first time quality and on time delivery performance.
- Manage program engineering staffing requirements.
- Lead continuous process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage and ensure technical risks/issues are driven to closure.
- Support development of technology investment plans and digital solutions roadmaps to drive business growth
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- 5+ years of experience in a managerial role
- 5+ years of experience with aircraft sustainment or service engineering
- 5+ years of experience with Retrofit, Repairs, Modifications & Maintenance
- 5+ years of experience with system design and development, including component interactions, interfaces and overall system functionality
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or equivalent experience
- 10 years or greater in a managerial role
- Experience in a role that required strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in Earned Value Management
- Experience in Product Review Engineering with Method Review Board authority
- Experience working with organizational leaders to develop & implement plans & objectives to meet requirements and create reports for management reviews & track performance to plan
- Experience in commercial derivatives
- Experience interfacing directly with suppliers and the United States Air Force (USAF)
- Active Current U.S. Security Clearance (Active means held within the previous two years from today)
