Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Staff Mission Assurance Engineer with experience in quality to join our team in Sykesville, MD.

In this role you will be performing or assuring quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements to support multiple programs. Qualified candidates work as part of a team, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan and be customer-support focused. Individuals must also have demonstrated ability to evaluate whether documents, instructions and procedures are being followed during execution and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. This position is full-time on site.

Responsibilities include:
  • Support and facilitate site audits and corrective actions, ensuring identification of root cause and proper implementation of corrective actions and reach back and reach across.
  • Selected candidate will support MA functions to ensure mission success.
  • Technical reviews of all drawings, SOW's, Requirements documents as required.
  • Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements.
  • Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance.
  • Support, develop, implement and maintain the site's Program Quality Plans.
  • Support and facilitate program failure review boards, ensuring identification of root cause and proper implementation of corrective actions and reach back and reach across.
  • Assist PQM in preparation and execution on of Program Preventive and Corrective Action Board (PCAB).
  • Develop and maintain Program and Site Quality Metrics.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Program Management Program Review packages.
  • Support Customer Corrective Action Requests.
  • Support MA & QE in requirements and flow down.
  • Monitor timely closure of hardware and work corrective actions with MA & QEs.
  • Represent MA within Engineering Change Boards as a reviewer and key stakeholder.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM field with minimum of 12 years of experience in Program Quality and Mission Assurance; OR a minimum of 10 years of experience with a Masters in a STEM field;
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality experience.
  • Experience with quality system engineering methodologies and program quality tasks
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Secret DoD Security Clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with quality engineering, inspection methods, production control, manufacturing operations, product test & evaluation, reliability, defect analysis, and control of nonconforming material
  • Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
  • Experience with MRB (Material Review Board) standards.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis tools, such as Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, 8D, 5 Why, etc.


Primary Level Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $244,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
