Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Digital Control Technician 3/4 . This position is in Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Digital Control Technician plays a crucial role in the precision manufacturing environment, focusing on the layout, fabrication, and assembly of a range of jigs, fixtures, and tooling essential for complex operations. This position requires expertise in interpreting tool design specifications and translating them into practical applications that meet exacting tolerances and standards. The technician will plan and execute work sequences while utilizing advanced optical instruments to ensure precise alignment and fit of assembled components.

Alongside developing innovative holding devices and detailed designs for jigs and fixtures, the technician is responsible for creating operational sequences and shop drawings to facilitate the fabrication and assembly processes undertaken by team members. Additionally, the role involves monitoring quality control measures, contributing to the overall integrity and efficiency of production. This position is integral to maintaining high standards in manufacturing, ensuring that tools and components are crafted with accuracy and tailored to operational needs.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Level 3: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional related education and/or related experience.
  • Level 4: High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional related education and/or related experience.
  • 3 years of experience with Build IT software.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools including CPLM, SAP, MES or other related applications.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% as needed by the business.


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Familiar with Jig Building
  • Certified user of Build IT software
  • Able to train others in Build IT software
  • Work with limited supervision
  • Experience in creating and maintaining Metrology governing documents (PROPs).
  • Ability to develop and update Tooling and Metrology Process Specifications.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a Knowledge Base for Best Practices.
  • Relevant skill certifications in metrology or related fields.
  • Experience providing Metrology support for Manufacturing Execution System (MES) planned events, non-conformities, and Tooling location workarounds.
  • Assistance in Tooling support including installation, fabrication, rework, repair, and periodic inspection.
  • Capability to identify, plan, and present capital requirements to align with product schedules.
  • Experience advising on and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create & maintain routine metrology programs specific to production needs
  • Assist Mission Assurance with Inspection needs
  • Key Characteristic & critical feature verification
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Solid analytical capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex situations.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess problems effectively.
  • Proven experience in problem resolution within a production context.
  • Familiarity with production line operations.


Primary Level Salary Range: $67,300.00 - $112,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,900.00 - $133,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
