This Senior Principal Electronics Engineer position requires a strong background in Design and Development of Test Sets for Production/Factory Environment. In this role, you will work as a Deputy Test Architect to develop Test Strategy & Architecture for multiple Programs for the following domains: RF, Digital, Power & Test Software

Key Responsibilities:
  • This position requires a highly experienced subject matter expert in the design maturation of RF/Power/Digital Test Sets & Integrated Test Adapters/Fixtures
  • This position will require collaboration with Prime Design and Test Design teams for other Business Units
  • This will include collaboration with design teams for requirements flow down, management, and verification, generating complex I/O and electrical schematics using Zuken, interconnect/interface control documents, PWB design and engineering models of Test Sets for multiple Programs
  • Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and team building skills are essential.
  • Successful candidates are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced, aerospace team environment while possessing technical proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and ability to interface across the different engineering teams.
  • This position will require close collaboration with Test Design Mechanical Engineers


This role is contingent upon candidates having an Active Secret Clearance, and the ability to obtain a SAP or TS/SCI Clearance within a reasonable time frame to meet business needs.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and/or STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of relevant engineering experience, Master's degree with 6 years of relevant engineering experience OR 4 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 5 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) and/or TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable time frame to meet business needs.
  • Experience as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Technical lead and/or other Leadership role with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant experience with HW and/or SW lifecycle and ability to lead design efforts, design test & evaluation, and/or transition designs into Production.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret and/or Secret Clearance with SCI
  • Test design and integration background
  • PWB Design Background
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and guidance.
  • Experience with schematic design tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Zuken, etc.)
  • Proficiency with digital, analog, RF test equipment, RF theory and high-speed digital design
  • Familiarity with differential digital interfaces like LVDS - PXI/PXIe and VME bus experience
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electronics & test equipment
  • Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems
  • Experience in Researching, designing, developing and testing a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment


Primary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
