The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for Federal IT Cybersecurity and Governance programs. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal government legislative and regulatory requirements, particularly in IT policy implementation.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for Federal IT Cybersecurity and Governance programs. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal government legislative and regulatory requirements, particularly in IT policy implementation.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines related to information security and compliance requirements
- Create and update documentation for security control implementations, including system security plans and control descriptions
- Draft and edit technical narratives for audit responses and evidence documentation
- Work with subject matter experts to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation
- Assist in preparing documentation for compliance audits (SOC, FedRAMP, CMMC, HIPAA, etc.)
- Maintain documentation libraries and ensure version control of all compliance artifacts
- Develop templates and standardize documentation formats to ensure consistency
- Support the development of training materials related to compliance requirements
- Track regulatory changes and update documentation to reflect new requirements
- Participate in internal audits and control assessments as needed
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a compliance or information security environment
- Experience with GRC frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC, FedRAMP, CMMC, or similar compliance frameworks
- Previous experience writing for government or highly regulated industries preferred
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong understanding of GRC concepts, terminology, and frameworks
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible documentation
- Proficiency with documentation tools and content management systems
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Knowledge of documentation best practices, including style guides and formatting standards
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with FedRAMP, CMMC, NIST 800-53, or other federal security frameworks
- Familiarity with GRC tools such as RSA Archer, MetricStream, or similar platforms
- Experience supporting federal government contracts
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and technologies
- Previous experience in IT auditing or compliance assessment roles
- Certifications in technical writing, information security, or compliance (CISSP, CISA, etc.)
