Individual Occupational Requirement for Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (NOTE: You must attach copy of your transcripts)In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Medical Social Work including discharge planning, case management and high risk issues such as domestic violence, child & elder abuse and complex mental health. Ability to complete psychosocial assessments and develop safe and effective discharge plans for patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Selective Place Factor Requirement:
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your license)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Help
- Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses
- Collect biopsychosocial information about patients through interview, case history, observation techniques, and other assessment methods.
- Analyze information collected to identify symptoms and develop treatment plan.
- Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans.
- Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis.
- Provide emergency on-call crisis management services for behavioral health cases and all other social work needs as designated by the section or department needs.

- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
