Professional Summary:
The Software Systems Engineer - Lead will provide high-level technical expertise in the design, development, and sustainment of complex enterprise software systems. This role involves architecting solutions that integrate software, hardware, and communications to meet functional and technical requirements across the system's lifecycle. The Lead Engineer will also oversee system compliance with open standards and DoD architectural frameworks, guide other technical staff, and ensure overall quality and performance of the system
Responsibilities
Formulate and define specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modify and maintain existing applications using engineering releases and manufacturer utilities
Provide top-level technical expertise through in-depth software systems programming, analysis, and performance optimization
Design architectures encompassing software, hardware, and communications to support total system requirements, ensuring scalability and cross-functional integration
Ensure all systems are compatible with and compliant to open systems standards and Department of Defense (DoD) architectural requirements
Identify, assess, and present options to meet functional and technical requirements, including evaluating and implementing hardware and software updates or upgrades
Develop high-level system design diagrams and perform detailed program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
Collaborate with project management to plan schedules, define technical direction, and ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines
Provide instruction, direction, and quality oversight to task personnel, ensuring deliverables meet established standards and deadlines
Conduct quality assurance reviews and evaluate existing and emerging software products for compliance, performance, and suitability
Oversee overall operating system maintenance, including file management routines, telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced scientific or mathematical software packages
Support all phases of software systems programming applications, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and security throughout development and deployment
Evaluate and recommend new and existing software products and tools to enhance system capability and performance
Minimum Requirements:
• Ten (10) years of experience of experience with systems engineering and software development
• Experience with MicroStrategy or Business Intelligence platforms, analytics, data modeling, and dashboard design.
• Experience implementing modern security solutions (e.g., Blockchain or related cryptographic research)
• Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
• Must possess Tier 3 (T3) Secret Clearance
