Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Application Developer to join a highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Reston, VA. This role will play a mission critical part in the maintenance of existing legacy applications and the transition to a new system architecture supporting enterprise modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will bring strong full stack development expertise with proven experience in Node.js, backend API development, and deployment across modern cloud platforms. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with cross-functional agile teams, ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of next-generation systems in a secure and high-impact federal environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, enhance, and maintain full stack web applications supporting mission objectives.
• Design, implement, and maintain Node.js-based backend services and APIs.
• Support deployment and scaling of applications in cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, collaborating closely with developers, testers, and system engineers.
• Document and maintain technical system architecture and application designs.
• Utilize GitHub for source control and Jenkins for CI/CD automation.
• Track tasks and user stories in JIRA to support iterative delivery and transparency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across front-end, backend, and infrastructure layers.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in Full Stack Development.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and backend API development.
• Proven experience deploying and maintaining applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience working within an Agile development framework.
• Proficiency with GitHub and Jenkins for code management and automation.
• Familiarity with JIRA for task and sprint tracking.
• Demonstrated ability to document system designs and technical processes.
Preferred Skills
• Strong understanding of graph databases and data modeling.
• Knowledge of internet protocols and network technologies.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular, or React.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering
• Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
