Job Description
We are seeking an early to mid-career Mechanical Engineer to support our EO/IR seeker and precision munitions products and related technologies. If selected, you will be part of the Hardware Team supporting new development in the Franchise Program Portfolio - a major piece of our Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions product line.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $95106 - $161680
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

We are seeking an early to mid-career Mechanical Engineer to support our EO/IR seeker and precision munitions products and related technologies. If selected, you will be part of the Hardware Team supporting new development in the Franchise Program Portfolio - a major piece of our Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions product line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design packaging for optical sensing systems, IR cameras, and associated electronics for use in typical military environments, including high speed and high altitude missile flight.
- Execute assigned mechanical tasks, including design, analysis, test, and support activities in the context of a multidisciplinary program team located at multiple BAE Systems facilities.
- Support prototype and low volume build and engineering support activities.
- Read, understand, and abide by Statement of Work (SoW) and other requirements documents. Thrive in situations where requirements are scarce and must be derived based on initial prototyping, analysis, testing, and good judgment.
- Be adaptable in supporting one to several projects in different design stages. Understand and communicate shifting prioritization between those projects.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with others on a small development team.
- Work within schedule and budget constraints and elevate concerns if challenges arise.
- Perform informal trade studies and to optimize designs.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to meet program technical requirements.
- Perform elementary structural and thermal analyses using classical and finite element methods and know when to seek assistance from advanced analysis group.
- Document and present design, build, and test artifacts to internal and external customers as part of informal peer or formal design reviews.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in related industry (i.e. defense, electronics) or two years with a Master's Degree
- Proficiency with PTC Creo or equivalent CAD software, including model/drawing creation and revision management
- Mechanical Design Experience, especially with electronics packaging and thermal management
- Knowledge of and experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
- Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS ICEPAK, Siemens Simcenter 3D, or other mechanical analysis software for performing routine structural and thermal analyses
- Experience in mechanical stack-up tolerance analyses
- Knowledge of common military and industry specifications and standards
- Experience with the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies
- Eligible to obtain a DoD Security Clearance at the "Secret" level
- Clear communication - both oral and written - and a positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively on a team either on-site or remotely
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with guided and unguided munitions, including support of test events at customer sites
- Experience with cooled infrared optical systems
- Experience with bearings, gimbals, dewars, cameras, motors and resolvers
- Experience with Model-based Definition and fully-annotated CAD models
- Hands-on experience with thermal, vibration, and shock environmental testing per MIL-STD-810
