Program Overview

About The Role

The Health and Financial Solutions team is looking for a Test Engineer Associate to support the testing lifecycle for Medicare claims processing systems operating on a legacy mainframe platform. This role requires expertise in validating Durable Medical Equipment (DME) claim workflows, ensuring compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations, and managing test cases within TestRail. The engineer will collaborate with business analysts, developers, and operations to design, execute, and automate test suites for both functional and regression testing. This is a remote position based out of Windsor Mill, MD. Candidate must reside close for possible in office days.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts for critical Medicare claim workflows in the mainframe environment (batch and online).
  • Integrate automated test suites with TestRail for execution tracking and reporting.
  • Continuously assess regression suites for automation opportunities to improve test coverage, speed, and repeatability.
  • Develop, manage, and execute test cases within TestRail aligned to Medicare claims workflows and CMS requirements.
  • Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for mainframe batch and online applications.
  • Validate COBOL/JCL jobs, DB2/VSAM database updates, and downstream claim adjudication outputs.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and operations to resolve defects and ensure test coverage.
  • Create and maintain test data to simulate Medicare claim scenarios (inpatient, outpatient, Part A, Part B, adjustments, rejections, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with CMS testing standards and audit documentation.
  • Track and report test results, defects, and quality metrics in TestRail and JIRA (or equivalent defect tracking tool).
  • Participate in defect triage meetings and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Associates with 2 years of experience; Bachelors degree with 0 years experience or High School diploma and 4 years experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks for mainframe (e.g., CA Verify, Compuware Test Automation, REXX scripting).
  • Knowledge of CMS regulatory changes (e.g., ICD-10, HIPAA, DMEPOS).
  • Prior experience in healthcare payer systems or CMS audit environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD integration with test management software.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must reside close enough for possible in office days in Windsor Mills, MD
  • US citizenship is required

  • Bachelors or Masters degree

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $39,000 - $62,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
