As a Security Officer - Government Site Screener in Gaithersburg, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more.
As a Screener in a government location, you will monitor and patrol designated areas to help create a secure environment for all individuals on site. Your presence and attention help to deter security-related incidents while providing outstanding customer service and clear communication. What You'll Do:
- Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
- Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
- Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
- Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
- Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures and following site-specific policies, including appropriate emergency response activities.
- Screen individuals entering the location to help identify and report any prohibited items or suspicious behavior.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Monitor entry and exit points, verifying credentials and/or identification as required by site policy.
- Communicate clearly with visitors, staff, and emergency personnel as needed to support the security-related needs of the location.
- Document observations and/or incidents according to Allied Universal and site requirements.
- Remain alert and attentive while conducting screening duties, adapting to changing situations at the government location.

- Availability across various days and shifts
- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- A desire to gain broad experience and grow within the company
- Interest in transitioning into full-time roles when available
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have at least 2 years of security-related experience.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Alarm panel experience is preferred.
- Guard card or license is preferred.
- Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
