Duties

As an HR SPECIALIST (TITLE 32/MILITARY), GS0201-09, you will plan, organize, and oversee the full complement of activities within the Group Commander's Support Staff. Manage a myriad of Unit Commander's programs to include; Drug Demand Reduction Program, Urinalysis, Voting Assistance, promotions and demotions, evaluations, separations, retirements, benefits, entitlements, retention, classification, awards, decorations, retraining, casualty, Defense Travel System (DTS), Government Purchase Card Program, Government Travel Card Program, Air Force Fitness Program, Unit Security Program, Unit Self-Inspection Program, Unit File Maintenance, Unit Health Monitor and personnel readiness programs. Prepare the preparation and review of outgoing correspondence for conformance with Air Force instructions, policies, format and assembly; for accuracy of spelling, punctuation, form grammar; and for completeness of reports and correspondence. Integrate Information Technology into Group Staff operations. Assist the unit training manager in managing the unit training program and all subsequent listed duties within this section. Serve as the organizational point of contact and liaison with the Force Support Squadron. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. Anyone convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Must possess the ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE - Experience gained through military or civilian technical training schools, within the human resources business programs, are included as general experience qualifications. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE - Must have 24 months specialized experience or training or at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or the equivalent, which provided a basic working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and personnel programs. Must have a basic knowledge and experiences of personnel programs gained in a classroom or as an on-the-job trainee. Have knowledge-based competency of human resources elements and can discuss terminology, concepts, principles, and issues related to this competency. Experience in using references and resource materials and experience in program functions such as, maintaining personnel records, counseling, or classification and assignments. Experience may include performing personnel functions associated with preparing and maintaining position descriptions and manual records, personnel classification or usage, quality force management, managing personnel records and researching record data. Experience in operating a computer and using varied computer programs. Experience in human resources programs related to Career Enhancements, Customer Service, Employments, Relocations, and or Readiness. Perform other duties as required.
