Vantor is seeking a Database Administrator to manage the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of databases, ensuring high levels of availability, reliability, and security for supporting applications and systems. This project supports a hard and deeply buried target mission set, providing critical analytic insights to government stakeholders. Success depends on the ability to proactively manage diverse database environments while ensuring data integrity, security compliance, and minimal downtime in a highly sensitive and mission-focused environment. The work directly impacts national security objectives by transforming complex data into actionable intelligence in a highly specialized and sensitive domain.

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $99,000.00 - $165,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.

Responsibilities:
- This position is full time onsite in Reston, VA.
- Maintain, monitor , and troubleshoot databases (SQL, NoSQL, and other types as required ).
- Ensure database availability, integrity, security, and performance.
- Perform routine database administration tasks, including backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions.
- Monitor system performance and generate performance reports for tuning and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, and security personnel to support application requirements and data access controls.
- Implement data retention, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and classified handling procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current/active TS/SCI security clearance and be willing and able to obtain CI polygraph.
- 6 years of professional experience in data base administration or related field .
- Bachelor's degree in Database Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with at least one major RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
- Experience with database backup/recovery strategies and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of database security best practices and role-based access control.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Maste r's degr ee in Computer Science , Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience working in a classified or DoD environment.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server DBA, or AWS Database Specialty.
