Job Description
Gridiron IT is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our growing cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in AWS GovCloud or other government cloud environments and will play a key role in implementing and securing cloud infrastructure to support mission-critical operations. This role will partner closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure robust, compliant, and secure cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
Implement and maintain secure cloud architectures and solutions in AWS GovCloud or equivalent government cloud environments.
Integrate security best practices throughout CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, enabling secure and automated deployments.
Implement and manage security controls, monitoring, and compliance frameworks aligned with federal and organizational standards.
Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to embed security within SecDevOps processes.
Contribute to development cycles within SAFe Agile frameworks, ensuring security is addressed in each iteration.
Identify, assess, and mitigate cloud security risks while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Support audits, assessments, and incident response activities related to cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate across teams to assess risks, recommend mitigations, and drive continuous security improvements.
Limited travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering, with significant hands-on experience in AWS GovCloud or other government cloud environments.
Proven experience implementing security best practices in CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitLab.
Strong background in SecDevOps principles and secure automation.
Experience working within SAFe Agile processes.
Familiarity with relevant federal compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
US Citizenship required, US Government Secret security clearance or ability to obtain clearance required
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
Relevant cloud or security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISSP, CCSP).
Experience supporting federal contracts or regulated environments.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
Experience with container security (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
