Overview
VTG is seeking a Program Analyst - Acquisition Data Scientist to provide advanced data analytics and decision-support capabilities to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition (ASN (RDA)). The successful candidate will leverage data science tools and methodologies to analyze, visualize, and interpret complex acquisition data, enabling data-driven insights that enhance Navy program management and strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for an experienced data scientist with a strong technical foundation and an understanding of defense acquisition processes . This position is 100% onsite in Arlington, VA.

The successful candidate will leverage data science tools and methodologies to analyze, visualize, and interpret complex acquisition data, enabling data-driven insights that enhance Navy program management and strategic decision-making. What will you do?
- Develop, maintain, and optimize data models, analytics dashboards, and visualizations to support Navy acquisition decision-making.
- Apply data science, data mining, statistics, and graph algorithms to analyze large and complex datasets.
- Support the design and implementation of data pipelines using ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from multiple sources.
- Utilize tools such as Qlik, Power BI, and Python to conduct advanced analytics and create interactive dashboards.
- Employ Structured Query Language (SQL) and Non-Structured Query Language (NoSQL) databases to manage and query large datasets.
- Build and manage Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to facilitate secure data exchange and automation across systems.
- Integrate data from web application servers, search indexes, and other data repositories to support analytics objectives.
- Collaborate with acquisition, financial, and policy teams to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for leadership.
- Provide recommendations for improving data governance, quality, and accessibility across ASN (RDA) programs.
Do you have what it takes?
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data science, data analytics, or related technical fields, preferably within defense acquisition programs.
- Proven experience with data mining, statistical modeling, and graph algorithms to derive insights from structured and unstructured data.
- Proficiency in Qlik, Power BI, Python, and related data analytics tools.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, API development, ETL pipelines, web application servers, and search index applications.
- Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) or Department of the Navy (DON) is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Must have an active Secret- eligible for Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
