Job Description
We have an opening for a Special Projects Lead. You will support the Security and Protection (S&P) Program within the Security Organization. The S&P Program is responsible for managing the development, maintenance, and operations support of a physical security system at seven National Nuclear Security Administration sites. The scope of work within the S&P Systems Engineering section will include leading and managing projects consisting of physical security system projects, video surveillance systems, procurements, deployment, vendor and contract management, forecasting, analysis, quality assurance testing, personnel and risk management. You will be the primary liaison between technical staff, customers, procurement, deployments, vendors, enterprise sites, and sponsors.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options, may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
This position will be filled at the TSS.3 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team.

You will:
- Manage multiple complex parallel tasks and priorities of customers and stakeholders, ensuring deadlines are met, while leveraging team member skills.
- Direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities of technical staff assigned to special projects, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing technical guidance.
- Work closely with the S&P Systems Engineering Section Lead to develop system designs for new site deployments. Receive requirements from S&P management for deployment plans and solutions, develop deployment plans and schedules, and present these for approval by S&P management.
- Present security system designs, deployment plans, and schedules to S&P management, enterprise sites, and the sponsor, ensuring alignment with program objectives and stakeholder requirements.
- Pursue and initiate new enterprise project opportunities; develop and present project proposals; determine effort levels, procurements, and funding avenues.
- Receive Quality Assurance (QA) standards, interpret QA standards, and work towards meeting those standards, coordinating testing with the technical team. This does not include authoring standards.
- Create and manage procurement submittals; represent program to Supply Chain Management.
- Manage Strategic Partnership Projects contracts create and manage procurement submittals, represent program to Supply Chain Management and inform S&P management of budgetary activities.
- Develop and implement procedures and policies to support projects and organizational objectives.
- Identify, develop, and implement process improvement and cost-saving measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- This position requires an active DOE Q-level clearance or active Top-Security clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced knowledge of access control systems, physical security systems, surveillance systems, and OpenVMS.
- Advanced application and development of technical, business, or operational principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to independently contribute to technical projects or support programs using creativity and innovation.
- Advanced experience and knowledge managing technical implementation projects with strong facilitation skills to foster collaboration amongst disparate technical stakeholders.
- Advanced verbal, written and presentation skills in communicating complex project information to team members, management, sponsor, and enterprise sites.
- Advanced situational awareness, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills necessary to interact with team members, management, sponsor and enterprise sites.
- Experience developing deployment plans & schedules, communicating effort & funding needs, and evaluating projects risks.
- Ability to travel.
