Position Description :
A Technical Designer is a developer who designs and creates technical documentation through the entire content creation and development process, from ideation to distribution and performance analysis. They work independently and as a member of a team of content creators to deliver engaging, high-quality material across multiple channels. Position Description :
A Technical Designer is a developer who designs and creates technical documentation through the entire content creation and development process, from ideation to distribution and performance analysis. They work independently and as a member of a team of content creators to deliver engaging, high-quality material across multiple channels. This role requires a combination of strong strategic, creative, and analytical skills.
Technical Designer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work in a highly collaborative environment focusing on agile development and cross discipline communication.
- Work with other content creators, designers, and multimedia specialists to produce high-quality, engaging content in various formats (e.g., blog posts, videos, podcasts, e-books, website copy).
- Create and maintain design and technical documentation for use throughout the entire production cycle, including ideation, writing, editing, and publishing.
- Analyze, design, develop, document, implement, maintain, adapt, and modify assets and game engine scripts for a 3D immersive interactive training simulation application.
- Work with artists, software engineers, and other content developers to ensure proper implementation according to system specifications.
- Create and revise levels to meet design and functionality specifications and ensure a high level of optimization while delivering to the highest level of fidelity.
- Iterate on features and implementations for usability and runtime optimization.
- Participate in general content integration and work with other developers to optimize integration processes.
- Coordinate with technical and instructional team members to resolve quality assurance issues.
- 3 + years of related game development experience.
- Ensure the completion of all aspects of projects adhering to master plans schedules.
- Be an energetic self-starter, able to develop a personal day-day schedule based on project schedule deadlines while also complying with customer meeting schedule.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Ensure deliverables meet quality standards, are consistent; and satisfy both external and internal requirements.
- Read and understand DOD Instructions, Ready Relevant Learning, and Career Long Learning Continuum policies.

Required Qualifications and Skills :
- US Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain "Secret" security clearance required.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Deep knowledge of content management systems (CMS), SEO principles, and content marketing platforms.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and experience using tools like Google Analytics.
- Familiarity with digital marketing trends and an innovative, creative mindset.
- A broad understanding of current technical issues and training system design and development trends.
- Ability to read, interpret, organize, and synthesize source material into well-written, concise learning products.
- Ability to apply Integrated Learning Environment principles and guidelines for the design and development of training products.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, assessment strategies and author training products to close identified training gaps.
- Ability to communicate directly with clients-effectively and tactfully
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Visio, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and establish a working knowledge of military terminology.
Additional Valued Qualifications and Skills :
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Art & Design, or Game Programming (preferred).
- 3-5+ years' experience in technical/game content development or strategy in instructional systems analysis, design, and development.
- Knowledge of learning theory and the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of one or more specialties of the instructional systems field.
- Experience developing Department of Defense (DOD) courseware that is, at a minimum, Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).
- Developed training materials in the Unity, Adobe Captivate®, Video Simulation (VSIM) and similar software formats that support the follow-on training requirement.
- Experience developing tests in the Questionmark® Perception® (QMP), Moodle, or approved equivalent assessment management system approved by the government.
