Epsilon Systems Solutions is seeking a full time Life Raft Maintenance Support Technician I in San Diego, CA.

Summary : The position will provide mechanical repairs and testing onboard ships and in the shop. Support shall include removal, repairs, recertification, installation, troubleshooting, and testing on various ships' life rafts and survival components in accordance with FWPs and applicable technical documentation sign off steps, ensuring adherence to technical authority requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct precision measuring and inspection utilizing calibrated standards; pull-force devices; as well as pressure, humidity and temperature gauges.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and inspection of pyrotechnic items in accordance.
  • Recertify, remove, repair/replace, replenish, install, test, transport ship-to shop,

    rebuild, pack, label and band U.S. Navy life rafts, inflation system valves, and hydrostatic release devices (HRDs), to include life raft components such as flare bags, flare

    kits, and emergency abandon ship bags.
  • Work with and ensure proper disposal of HAZWASTE during the removal process of expired items from life rafts and survival bags.
  • Assess life rafts to determine the extent of wear and damage, and provide justification for repair/re-use or disposal recommendations.
  • Submit all completed work tasks for review by the Government for conformance with original work instructions, technical specifications, QA requirements and documentation.
  • Maintain a Strategic Contingency Pool of RFI life rafts.
  • Inspect, use, and maintain calibrated test equipment, calibrated torque wrenches, and special tools to include the following TMDE: torque wrenches, calibrated air pressure gauges, Mod-1 top-off valves, and pull-force testers. Ensure current calibration prior to calibrated tool usage.
  • Work in-shop and onboard ships. Occasionally repairs and installations

    may be required in areas with inclement weather and high noise levels requiring hearing protection. At times, working conditions may be uncomfortable, with oil, grease, dirt, dampness, and excess noise and vibration present.


Required:

  • 2 years of relevant and related experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DBIDS credential.
  • Sound interpersonal skills needed to interface, coordinate with shop personnel, customers and outside contacts as necessary.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experienced in the use of basic hand tools.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in ammunition and explosives handling, and passing both physical exam and online training course.
  • Obtain and maintain Fall Protection certification in accordance with company fall protection program.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $26.26 To $32.52 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

  • Require walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
  • Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).
  • Office environment, shipboard, waterfront and shops.
