The Rotary Wing Aircraft Painter (Army UH-60, AH-64, CH-47 aircraft) is responsible for the striping and painting of aircraft and other aircraft related components. Ensures compliance with the procedures for the storage, disposal and usage of chemicals and hazardous materials used or generated in the process of aircraft painting. Coordinates with maintenance in the preparation of aircraft painting.
  • Coats surfaces of aircraft, support equipment, and allied components with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices.
  • Removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper as well as blasting with plastic media.
  • Smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool.
  • Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface.
  • Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted.
  • Paints insignia, letters, or numerals on aircraft surface using stencils
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.


Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is Required.
  • Completion of specialized training course is desirable.
  • Recent hands-on aircraft painter experience is Required; (will consider recent automotive painter experience).
  • Experience in the preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces is preferred.
  • Knowledge of preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied components.
  • Must be able to distinguish Color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • Must be able to pass/meet physical requirements for PPE/Respirator.
  • A valid Driver's License is Required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance (below).


Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.


Physical Requirements/ Additional Qualifications:
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for up to six hours per day and sit for up to four hours per day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds to height of four feet and be required to lift up to 35 pounds to height of 7 feet.
  • Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print.
  • Knowledge of military publications, microfilm, and diagrams is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work requirements.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sounds.
  • Must be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork-lift, APU, etc.
  • May be exposed to rapid or extreme temperature changes, wind and dust.
  • Will be exposed to loud noises.


Hawaii Compensation Pay Transparency:

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $79,268.80 - $38.11 - $41.22 an Hour (Salary to be determined by the education. Experience, knowledge skills, and abilities, of the applicant internal equity and alignment with market data.

This position includes a competitive benefits package.

Bi-weekly accrual of 5.70 hours (0 to less than 60 months)

Bi-weekly accrual of 7.70 hours (60 months but less than 120 months)

Bi-weekly accrual of 9.20 hours (120 months but less than 240 months)
