Mission:
Support the Cloud Engineering, Transition, and Modernization Support Services (CETM) for Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) and the E2IS Integrated Product Team, driving secure migration and modernization of enterprise systems.
Position Summary:
As Kubernetes/DSO SME (SE2), you will provide expert Kubernetes engineering for NIWC Atlantic’s modernization initiatives. You’ll deliver technical leadership for cluster management, architecture, DevSecOps pipeline integration, and cloud transformation projects, ensuring the secure migration of legacy environments to advanced Kubernetes-based platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters using Helm and related orchestration tools
• Automate infrastructure management with Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform)
• Design, integrate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for container-based deployments (Jenkins/Concourse)
• Implement and monitor Kubernetes security policies, including RBAC and Pod Security Standards, and manage tools like SonarQube, Fortify, and ZAP for container security
• Monitor clusters and applications using observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana), troubleshooting performance and reliability issues
• Deliver training on cloud service offerings, collaborate with internal teams, and support go-live activities
Qualifications:
• Expert knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, including pods, services, deployments, and networking
• Proven experience with AWS cloud platforms and Linux system administration
• Hands-on proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation
• Experience designing and managing DevSecOps pipelines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification; Security+ certification
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, IT, or related discipline
• At least 3 years’ experience in enterprise Kubernetes/DevSecOps engineering
• US citizenship and active Top Secret security clearance
