Join a cutting-edge team advancing the next generation of immersive military training environments. As a Junior Software Engineer specializing in Terrain Development, you’ll help create highly realistic and data-driven virtual worlds that support mission-critical simulation and training programs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about geospatial technologies, real-time rendering, and building interactive 3D experiences that make a real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and integrate high-fidelity terrain modules using tools such as Cesium, Unity, and the Blender OpenStreetMap (BLOSM) plugin.

Ingest, process, and optimize geospatial and terrain data from diverse sources, including One World Terrain (OWT), OpenStreetMap, and 3D Tiles.

Collaborate closely with simulation and visualization teams to ensure terrain realism aligns with operational training objectives.

Implement efficient data pipelines for terrain ingestion and optimize rendering performance for real-time simulation.

Support scenario generation tools that enable rapid deployment of geo-specific training exercises.

Participate in prototype demonstrations with military end-users, integrating feedback into terrain improvements.

Contribute to internal R&D initiatives focused on advanced terrain sourcing and integration for large-scale simulation platforms.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Engineering, or a related technical field.

Proficiency in Unity for simulation or visualization applications.

Hands-on experience with Cesium and Blender toolsets.

Strong programming skills in C# and Python.

Understanding of geospatial data formats, terrain mapping, and cloud-based rendering pipelines.

Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with geospatial concepts such as DEM, DSM, DTM, 3D Tiles, shapefiles, coordinate projections, and Level of Detail (LOD) techniques.

Experience using BLOSM for terrain generation.

Exposure to Department of Defense (DoD) or other military simulation and training programs.

Knowledge of simulation interoperability standards such as HLA or DIS.

Background in software engineering for terrain development, geospatial visualization, or environmental modeling.

Experience with C++ and agent-based simulation frameworks.

Familiarity with military simulation standards, weather modeling, and tactical scenario design.

Work Environment
Collaborative, fast-paced development team building next-generation training systems.

Frequent interaction with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and military end-users.

Agile development cycles with continuous feedback and rapid prototyping opportunities.
