Department Summary:
MITRE Industrial Security Programs (ISP) oversees the operations of classified facilities and ensures the implementation of operative security controls intended for the protection of unclassified and classified national security information (NSI) developed by or entrusted to MITRE as a member of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The department applies resources to mitigate risk across operational domains through a continuum of security administration standards, control strategies, and oversight levels that align with corporate needs and expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Industrial Security Specialist will:
- Assist in the security processes of Control and Accountability, Storage, Transmission, Reproduction, Disposition and Retention, Disclosure, Destruction for the protection of collateral classified material and information.
- Properly account for, control, transmit, package, and safeguard collateral classified information and will provide for destruction of collateral classified material IAW 32 CFR Part 117.
- Oversee daily security operations and NISP/NISPOM compliance for a secured facility.
- Maintains data compliance in DISS, NISS, SIMS and other system of records.
- Ensure document control security by safeguarding classified documents in accordance with the 32 CFR Part 117 and through coordination with the McLean FSO.
- Analyze classified documents to ensure proper marking.
- Assist in the development of accreditation documentation for multiple Open Storage Areas (OSAs), including UL2050 Certifications, OSA checklists, TEMPEST checklists, and mitigation plans.
- Assist the Corporate McLean FSO with self-inspections to ensure compliance with government and company regulations and requirements.
- Maintain and update Standard Practices and Procedures (SPP) documentation.
- Maintain the appropriate official system of record (SOR) accurately reflecting all accountable collateral classified material.
- Analyze and validate security processes, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and address gaps.
- Assist the FSO with investigating security incidents.
- Must be able to interpret security policy and provide guidance and assistance to company personnel.
- Maintain security knowledge and remain current through CDSE training.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, work independently and in a team environment.
- Assist with all other security-related duties as assigned by the FSO.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have an active Top Secret clearance.
- Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent in education, or 3 years' experience with an Associate degree, or 2 years' experience with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- Must have a basic understanding of the NISPOM.
- Experience using DoD systems for Security, such as DISS and NISS.
- Excellent organizational and communications skills, and the ability to effectively interact with staff and customers at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, discretion, diplomacy, tact, and ability to work with both the staff and MITRE leadership and external sponsors
- Proven track record in managing staff to meet sponsor needs
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences across MITRE
- This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing Security Information Management System (SIMS).
