Torch Technologies is seeking an Information Systems/Network Security Specialist that supports the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF) by safeguarding networks, systems, and data. The role involves monitoring and analyzing network traffic, responding to threats, and maintaining information assurance programs. The specialist provides incident response, threat analysis, and guidance on security measures, ensuring compliance with contractual and organizational requirements.

Torch Technologies is seeking an Information Systems/Network Security Specialist that supports the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF) by safeguarding networks, systems, and data. The role involves monitoring and analyzing network traffic, responding to threats, and maintaining information assurance programs. The specialist provides incident response, threat analysis, and guidance on security measures, ensuring compliance with contractual and organizational requirements.
As an Information Systems/Network Security Specialist your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to network traffic and intrusion detection system (IDS) alerts.
- Conduct incident response and investigation of computer security violations and intrusions, including in-depth analysis of exploits.
- Perform initial triage on security events within Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
- Analyze logs from firewalls, NIDS, HIDS, and system logs to determine remediation actions and escalation paths.
- Independently contain, analyze, and eradicate malicious activity.
- Document all activities during incidents and provide leadership with updates throughout the lifecycle of the incident.
- Create detailed incident reports and maintain a knowledge base of alarms, false positives/negatives, and security trends.
- Provide Computer Network Defense (CND) and Information Assurance (IA) support to internal networks.
- Conduct proactive cyber threat intelligence research to improve security posture and reduce the attack surface.
- Advise management and clients on intrusion events, threats, and best practices for information assurance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus systems, and software deployment tools.
- Develop, communicate, enforce, and maintain security policies and procedures for data, applications, hardware, and telecommunications.
- Assist in improving SOC processes, incident response times, and overall operational efficiency.
- Serve as an escalation point for event analysis and critical incidents.
- Provide work leadership and guidance for lower-level analysts as required.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience developing and implementing Intrusion Detection Systems and firewalls.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
- Experience monitoring and analyzing network traffic, IDS/IPS alerts, and SIEM systems.
- Proven experience with incident response, computer network defense, and information assurance.
- Strong knowledge of network architecture, protocols, and security tools.
- Ability to conduct cyber threat intelligence research and implement mitigation strategies.
- Strong documentation skills for incident reporting and knowledge base maintenance.
- Ability to communicate complex security issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in project management and guiding technical security teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH.
- Experience in mission-critical or defense-related environments.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, DoD security standards).
- Experience in Security Operations Center (SOC) operations and leadership.
- Familiarity with advanced cyber threat analysis and proactive threat mitigation.
