Scute - Job description: Dev Ops Engineer
Summary
Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience seeking a talented DevOps System Engineer to join our Scute team in Fort Meade, Maryland area, that has passion for building robust, scalable, and secure DevOps environments.
Key responsibilities and areas of experience:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Certificationas: Highly desired AWS Certified DevOps Engineer; Professional, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (Azure); Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator
• Experience: Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, or similar role with a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience performing the following:
o Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain IT systems
o Manage daily configuration and operations of IT infrastructure
o Provide user support and resolve IT issues across various platforms
o Monitor system performance and conduct capacity planning
o Collaborate with agency management and internal customers on escalated issues
o Configure and optimize UNIX and Windows operating systems
o Implement enhancements to improve system reliability and performance
Technical skills/ Role requirements:
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Salt)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker or Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios or Splunk)
• Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with managing hybrid cloud environments or migrations from on-prem to cloud services.
• Experience in designing and implementing scalable and resilient Azure architectures using best practices in security, governance, and cost management.
• Proven ability to automate complex deployments and configurations across multi-environment Azure landscapes.
• Familiarity and experience with some of the tech stacks used by our development teams:
• Experience with load balancing (HAproxy, httpd)
• Knowledge of web servers (Tomcat, Nginx, Java)
• Database expertise (MongoDB, Postgres, MySQL)
• AWS experience or certification (Cloud Architect or SysOps Administrator)
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Strong communication/collaboration abilities, in cross-functional and Agile teams.
• Demonstrated self-starter mentality with a passion for learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Preferred qualifications:
• 5+ years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• Security clearance level: TS/SCI w/Poly
• US citizenship required
• Certification Required: 8570 compliant with a Security + certificate
• Location: Onsite Fort Meade, MD area.
