What you'll do

This role will test our newest satellite terminal, which will provide multi-orbit inflight connectivity service combining GEO's bandwidth efficiency with LEO's low latency. Your role testing at the terminal level includes integrating multiple components and access networks so that we deliver an improver passenger quality of experience (QoE).

You will work with a cross-functional team to help develop & perform testing on our diverse satellite network ecosystem! Write test documentation to include test plans, procedures and test cases and then support lab build up to implement the testing.

The day-to-day

Prepare Test Plans, Procedures, and customer needs to guide the effort to develop and build custom test hardware and automation using company and industry standards.

Shepherd test system deployment from hardware/software integration, to use in design verification, to full-rate production.

This role is located in Reston, VA, just 25 miles from Washington, DC, providing an easy commute from the capital.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degrees in STEM field
  • 5+ years of experience crafting test requirements, test plans, test cases and methodologies, and test documentation for manufacturing that guide system development.
  • Ready to use a variety of lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, and boundary scan to evaluate and help fix systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with satellite or wireless systems engineering including experience with integration and deployment of mobile systems.
  • Familiarity with antenna and RF design principles
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, Layer 2 (Data Link) and Layer 3 (Network) technologies, and basic concepts of MAC addresses, IP addresses, TCP, and UDP protocols.
  • Strong Interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplined teams in the delivery of highly complex solutions.
  • Knowledge and application of configuration management best practices.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET US security clearance
  • Up to 15% travel.

What will help you on the job

  • Masters's Degrees in STEM field
  • Experience with RF link performance analyses and link budgets
  • Familiarity with mobile SATCOM operations
  • Experience with a programming or scripting language (Python, C/C++, Java or other)
  • Familiar with using requirements traceability tools (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
  • Experience with Inmarsat Global Xpress and Viasat waveforms, terminals, provisioning, and service.
  • Satellite industry knowledge and relationships

Salary range

$101,000.00 - $159,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $125,500.00- $188,500.00/ annually
