Description of Duties:
Aegis Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer to support our partnership with Lockheed Martin on NASA's Orion program. In this position, the selected candidate will join the Orion Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Software Team, developing software that ensures mission reliability and ground system performance for the world's only deep-space crewed spacecraft.

Aegis Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer to support our partnership with Lockheed Martin on NASA's Orion program. In this position, the selected candidate will join the Orion Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Software Team, developing software that ensures mission reliability and ground system performance for the world's only deep-space crewed spacecraft.
The candidate will:
- Develop software engineering solutions for Orion's EGSE systems supporting ground telemetry and communications
- Design, enhance, and troubleshoot software that processes spacecraft telemetry data and voice/network communication
- Apply C++ and Linux expertise to maintain and evolve Orion's ground software infrastructure
- Collaborate with system engineers, lab users, and Lockheed Martin technical leads to ensure data integrity and operational readiness
- Assist users and lab managers with data analysis and anomaly resolution
- Provide off-hours support as required to maintain lab productivity
- Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on long-term Orion program success
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum 5 years of software development experience in C++ within Linux environments
- Strong understanding of satellite operations and telemetry systems and processing
- Experience supporting Voice and Network communication systems
- Experience with anomaly investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution
- Experience assisting users with data analysis and software troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in team-based environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting NASA or Lockheed Martin Orion programs
- Experience with real-time ground system operations
- Familiarity with spacecraft command and telemetry architectures
- Proficiency in multi-language environments (C++, Java, Python)
- Experience supporting government or aerospace contracts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat)
Compensation:
