Job Description

The Jr. Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems and infrastructure for operations in government facilities. Under the guidance of senior engineers, this role ensures that all facility systems operate efficiently and effectively, and that maintenance policies and procedures are implemented to support site operations. The engineer will provide technical guidance, ensure regulatory compliance, create and review electrical design drawings.

 Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the design and layout of power distribution systems, including medium- and low-voltage networks.
  • Develop and update single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Participate in field inspections, functional testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and components.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, systems, outside vendors) for integrated infrastructure project delivery.
  • Assist in evaluating and specifying electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, and UPS systems.
  • Review and contribute to the creation of engineering documentation, technical reports, maintenance policies, and design packages.
  • Support power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and grounding.
  • Gain experience with SCADA systems, substation design, and renewable energy system integration.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office tools for documentation and design tasks.


Basic Qualifications
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and 2–4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Practical understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to moderately complex projects and problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams (engineering, project management, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, and testing of complex electrical systems.
  • Experience in electrical system design, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical design principles and practices in commercial applications including regulations for electrical systems, e.g. National Electrical Code.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainable design practices.
  • Experience supporting medium voltage power distribution, backup generators, data centers, UPS systems, and lighting control systems.
  • Ability to resolve highly complex, multi-disciplinary technical problems across electrical systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership and customer on technical solutions, project requirements, goals, and design.


Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT Engineer in Training or PE Professional Engineer certification.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, renewable energy integration, and substation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and basic project documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for safety, quality, and innovation in engineering.
  • Experience with reactive maintenance for building electrical systems.
  • Experience with industrial control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and instrumentation.
