Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced UI & UX Lead to join a dynamic Agile development team supporting a federal cybersecurity program in Chantilly, VA. This position operates within a Flexible Agile Development Cycle delivering secure, scalable enterprise applications through collaborative design, development, integration, and sustainment efforts.
The UI & UX Lead serves as the primary design authority for all mission applications, guiding the design system and ensuring cohesive user experience across front-end and data visualization components.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog refinement to align UI/UX deliverables with development milestones.
• Lead the design and development of user interfaces and experiences that enhance usability, accessibility, and engagement across mission systems.
• Collaborate with developers, system architects, and stakeholders to gather, refine, and prioritize UI/UX requirements.
• Translate complex technical and functional requirements into intuitive interface designs and interactive workflows.
• Design, test, and maintain web applications, interactive dashboards, and visual components that support data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure consistency in design standards, visual elements, and interaction patterns across all products.
• Conduct usability testing, user feedback sessions, and design iterations to improve user satisfaction and performance.
• Coordinate closely with the System Architect to align UI/UX design with backend and data model requirements, including graph and link analysis formats.
• Document design processes, maintain design systems, and contribute to UI/UX style guides.
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience leading UI/UX design for web-based applications.
• Proficiency with front-end technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and user-centered design principles.
• Hands-on experience collaborating with full-stack and backend developers (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, Mongo, AWS).
• Proven ability to work in Agile development environments using JIRA or similar tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with data visualization, interactive dashboards, and graph database integration (e.g., ArangoDB).
• Familiarity with AWS cloud-hosted environments and DevSecOps workflows.
• Background in usability research, A/B testing, and user journey optimization.
• Knowledge of UI/UX design for secure or classified systems a plus.
• Understanding of performance optimization and front-end accessibility testing.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
