Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Functional Tester (API & UI)/ Customer Support to join a dynamic Agile development team supporting a federal cybersecurity program in Chantilly, VA. The Functional Tester (API & UI) / Customer Support will collaborate closely with developers, system architects, and end users to validate new functionality, manage feedback loops, and ensure quality and usability across mission-critical applications. This position operates within a Flexible Agile Development Cycle delivering secure, scalable enterprise applications through collaborative design, development, integration, and sustainment efforts.
The ideal candidate will have experience testing modern web-based applications, working directly with developers and stakeholders to track issues, elicit new requirements, and deliver responsive, proactive customer support.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct unit and functional testing of software systems, including web-based (SPA) platforms
• Document test procedures, test cases, and test results to support compliance and traceability
• Collaborate with developers to validate new features and track issue resolution
• Act as the Point of Contact (POC) for user issues, questions, and support requests
• Work within user base by delivering timely, professional, and clear communication
• Use Sponsor-provided tools to log, track, and resolve incidents, requests, and feature enhancements
• Gather user feedback and elicit new functionality requirements from users and stakeholders
• Create user documentation, training materials, and contribute to briefings or brown-bag sessions
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement, to ensure timely communication of testing results and user feedback to the development team.
• Support communication between technical teams and users, ensuring expectations and limitations are clearly conveyed
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Experience in software testing and reporting test results
• Experience with user support within a technical environment
• Hands-on experience performing UI/UX functional testing for Single-Page Applications (SPAs)
• Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create repeatable test plans and write user-facing materials
• Proven ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with end users, engineers, and stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience using JIRA for issue tracking and workflow management
• Experience working on cross-functional or Agile teams involving developers, testers, and analysts
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field
• Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
Certifications
• ITIL Foundation (Preferred)
• ISTQB Certified Tester (Preferred)
