Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
The selected candidate will fill the role of Design Engineer for Support and Training (S&T) Support Equipment for Command and Launch (CLT) and the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Missile.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll Get To Do:
- Support mechanical design oversite for mechanical models and drawings (including compliance with industry and program standards)
- Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications.
- Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for mechanical, electrical and integrated systems
- Perform requirements analysis, develop source data for requirements, generate test requirements and prepare test reports
- Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, data processing, and performance analysis
- Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
- Review customer deliverables, with a special focus on mechanical designs, testing, and requirements verification
- Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
- Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for the systems engineering function.
- Interface with AF customer and Subcontractor.

Responsibilities include the following:
- Provide technical leadership in Design and Development of Support Equipment for the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Segment on the Sentinel program
- Drive technical quality and execution in support of major program events with an emphasis CDR's and Flight-test's
- Ensuring execution of overall technical plan in alignment with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Driving technical rigor into Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) with Sentinel subcontractors, IWO partners and External Customers
- Advise program technical leadership on program, schedule, and technical matters
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 5 years experience, 3 years with a Master's degree, 1 years with a PhD.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAP) as a condition of continued employment
- 2 Years of experience with Support Equipment hardware development for aircraft/aerospace programs; including requirements generation, conceptual/detail design, design reviews, and/or testing
- Experience with Support Equipment requirements analysis, trade studies, SERD generation, design solutions, acquisition, test, and validation
- Must be an expert with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Systems Engineering tools (CAMEO/DOORS) and architecture
- Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
- Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM
- Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009
- Experience in other Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) disciplines (mainly with SERD/MTA development)
- Experience working with specialty engineering stakeholders (PM&P, Safety, Human Factors, others)
- Experience leading a team of engineers or project(s)
- Hands on experience in equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and measuring tools
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written; and ability to read and understand technical requirements documents
