Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Summer 2026 Intern. In this role, you will design tooling to support manufacturing of the Next Generation Interceptor, collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs meet the program needs, and present innovative solutions to unique challenges to Senior Leadership. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of mechanical structure design, engineering drawing development, and CAD tools to aid in design. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
Actively enrolled in an accredited college in a Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related Bachelor's Degree program
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis.
Desired Skills:
Desirable candidate will have or be able to:
- Familiarity with engineering CAD tools (Creo, I-DEAS, etc.).
- Knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical and structural systems.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
- Candidate must have the ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
- Candidate must have good oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
