Pay Range

$202,500-$256,824 Yearly at the SES.4 level

$243,060-$308,184 Yearly at the SES.5 level

Job Description

We have an opening for an experienced and visionary Product & Solution Manager to lead the SAFe® Solution Train responsible for developing and delivering the Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) Program's digital engineering platform. As a key member of the PRIDE leadership team, you will drive strategic innovation and lead enterprise-level change to advance the Nuclear Security Enterprise's digital engineering mission. This position reports to the PRIDE Program Manager and is in the ASQ Division, which is part of the Computing Directorate.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role, you will
  • Define and communicate strategic solutions that advance PRIDE and NSE mission objectives, setting long range goals and guiding innovation in collaboration with the PRIDE Architecture Team and key stakeholders, and developing, maintaining, and overseeing execution of a roadmap balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
  • Serve as the chief decision-maker for product and solution features, priorities, and backlog across Agile Release Trains (ARTs), ensuring delivery of high-impact software solutions and transformative business process improvements.
  • Lead and mentor Product Owners and Product Managers within each ART, providing expert guidance in backlog refinement, prioritization, and release planning according to SAFe® principles, and driving continuous performance improvements. Build trust and foster collaboration across geographically distributed agencies with complex, sometimes conflicting priorities, facilitating stakeholder alignment, managing expectations, and resolving high-level challenges.
  • Champion organizational change management to drive adoption of advanced tools and processes, addressing barriers to innovation and promoting a culture of psychological safety, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and encouraging the development and application of cutting-edge solutions.
  • Integrate national security requirements and compliance standards into product planning and delivery, proactively collaborating with architecture, security, and compliance teams to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Propose new functional and nonfunctional solution architectures, and validate architectures proposed by others in close partnership with the PRIDE Architecture Team, ensuring solutions meet strategic, technical, and operational objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.5 level
  • Drive the Solution Train through rapid growth and strategically prepare for the integration of new and existing ARTs and ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and technical leader for executive leadership across LLNL, NNSA, and other NSE agencies; represent the program at national-level forums, briefings, and external reviews, influencing strategic decisions and direction.
  • Oversee the integration and performance of multiple related projects and ARTs, ensuring cohesive delivery, optimal resource allocation, and achievement of high-impact programmatic goals across the portfolio.
  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices in digital engineering, driving innovation and continuous improvement at the enterprise level and shaping the future of the organization.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field (master's or doctorate degree preferred) or equivalent combination of skills and extensive relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in product management or scientific/technical program leadership, preferably in digital engineering or complex software environments.
  • Advance experience leading Agile teams, using SAFe® or comparable scaled frameworks, including backlog management, release planning, and iterative improvement.
  • Demonstrated Experience collaborating with or within government, national security, or research agencies, integrating compliance and security requirements into technical planning and delivery.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and facilitation skills, with a proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing, geographically distributed teams.
  • Proven ability to drive and lead enterprise-level organizational change, overcome cultural and technical barriers, and foster a culture of innovation, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills, with a strong track record of building trust, aligning diverse priorities, and delivering high-impact, innovative solutions across complex organizations, including proposing and validating solution architectures in partnership with diverse technical teams.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.

Additional qualifications at the SES.5 level
  • Demonstrated success in shaping, articulating, and executing enterprise-level strategies within a national laboratory, federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), or similarly complex scientific/technical organization, with significant impact on mission objectives.
  • Expert and proven ability to engage, influence, and build consensus with senior executives, interagency partners, and external stakeholders at the national and enterprise level, representing the organization in high-visibility forums.
  • Extensive experience overseeing and integrating multifaceted portfolios, including responsibility for resource allocation, governance, and performance optimization across multiple large-scale projects or Agile Release Trains.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Active DOE Q clearance (or active Top Secret clearance)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting product realization and lifecycle management processes related to nuclear stockpile modernization, sustainment, or similar high-consequence national security programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and deliver results within complex, multi-agency stakeholder environments, especially within the Nuclear Security Enterprise or comparable national security contexts.
  • SAFe® Program Consultant (SPC) or equivalent advanced Agile certification; experience leading, mentoring, and developing geographically distributed technical teams, and coaching leaders in scaled Agile practices.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical and strategic concepts to diverse audiences, influence senior stakeholders, and drive alignment and consensus across organizational and agency boundaries, including the ability to propose and validate solution architectures in collaboration with technical architecture teams.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.
