Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assigning and/or leading work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Serve as the Guard Force Supervisor making shift assignments to assigned patrol areas, planning the work of subordinate employees, and preparing the guard work schedules.
- Conduct initial investigations on all incidents and crimes that occur within the airfield and coordinate follow-up actions with the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
- Identify developmental and training needs of employees and provide for or arrange needed development and training.
- Prepare training outlines, schedule, conduct training, and ensure all personnel are fully trained in all aspects of their duties.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Incumbent must adhere to the requirements of Individual Reliability Program, AR 190-56.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform and maintain appearance IAW AR 190-56.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
- This position is subject to the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment and bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position is "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
