Position Responsibilities:
- Perform repetitive complex tasks according to the Laboratory's SOP for the analysis of chemical substances in biological specimens, including postmortem fluids and tissues.
- Perform forensic analytical work including Gas Chromatography/ Mass Spectrometry, High Performance Liquid Chromatography
- Mass Spectrometry, UV/VIS Spectrophotometry, and Immunoassay.
- Record, verify, and maintain laboratory notes in accordance with the Laboratory's SOP manual.
- Contribute to the Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions for the Laboratory and participate in the Laboratory's accreditation process.
- Develop forensically relevant procedures to detect and analyze for new and emerging drugs.
- Perform research for acquiring new laboratory equipment.
- Maintain chemical/supply inventory per Laboratory SOPs.
- Calibrate and maintain Laboratory instruments and equipment in compliance with ISO and ABFT requirements.
- Maintain a clean work area
- Perform statistical analysis of laboratory data.
- Perform independent research with minimal supervision to develop methods to detect and analyze new and emerging drugs.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree or higher in Chemistry, Forensic Science or related field from an accredited university
- 1-year related experience with a M.S. degree; 4 years related experience with a B.S. degree
- Experience supporting the FAA and the FAA Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) preferred, but not required
